Do you Remember......................???

When..........
It took five minutes for the TV warm up ?
Nearly everyone's Mom was at home when the kids got home from school?
It was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents ?

People went steady?
Lying on your back in the grass with your friends and saying things like, "That cloud looks like a ...........?
Stuff from the store came without safety caps and hermetic seal because no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger?
Being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited the student at home? Basically we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc.Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threatBut we survived because their love was greater than the threat.
Do you still remember

.........Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, the Lone Ranger, Astro Boy, Bubble gum cards

........when you first learnt how to ride a bike

.......The pom pom or ting ting man ( depended on what sound he made to announce his arrival) with his bicycle cart filled with goodies

..........Tikam Tikam where for 5 cents you could pick on folded piece of paper froma cardboard chart to see if you had won anything from a sweet to a silly plastic toy or even money.

..........Ice cream potong from the ice cream man who sold homemade ice cream on sticks or between 2 slices of bread ( sometimes the bread was coloured a garish green or pink)

.........eating ice balls sold by Indian men who used their bare hands to mould those wonderful iceballs brightly coloured with green and red syrup

.........playing all those games that children used to make up using just sticks , stones and tin cans
